We are urging universities to listen to the science and go fully plant-based. Universities across Europe are already embracing their role as leaders of change by committing to fully plant-based food. And Innsbruck is next!
Food systems are responsible for around a third of all global greenhouse gas emissions, and animal products are the dominant driver. Meat and dairy alone generate more emissions than all the world's planes, ships, and cars combined. Every meal our university serves is a choice between perpetuating this crisis or being part of the solution.
Every meal served at the Mensa, every snack provided at a conference and every catering ordered is a decision the University of Innsbruck makes. But this can change! The University of Innsbruck has already committed to reach climate neutrality by 2035. Going 100% plant-based is one of the most visible, controllable ways to actually deliver on that promise.
University of Vienna committed to only vegetarian/vegan catering for all their events a few months ago. Similarly, University of Graz already went fully plant-based in 2023 - and our university can be next!
We hosted Innsbruck's first plant-based Potluck. With over 40 people joining for the fun it was a huge success!
