Food systems are responsible for around a third of all global greenhouse gas emissions, and animal products are the dominant driver. Meat and dairy alone generate more emissions than all the world's planes, ships, and cars combined. Every meal the Medical University of Vienna serves is a choice between perpetuating this crisis or being part of the solution.
Currently there is no Mensa solely for us students. Good news! This is soon going to change with a new seperate Mensa opening up at Campus Mariannengasse. This is our opportunity! We can shape our University to contribute towards a more sustainable future by showing responsibility in the fight against the climate crisis.
Every plate is a decision our university makes and can change. Going 100% plant-based is one of the most visible, controllable and efficient way to take real action.
University of Graz went fully plant-based. Edinburgh hit 70%. Already 31 Universities all across Europe have commited to transition to 100% plant-based catering — and the Medical University of Vienna can be next!
