Food systems are responsible for around a third of all global greenhouse gas emissions, and animal products are the dominant driver. Meat and dairy alone generate more emissions than all the world's planes, ships, and cars combined. To the Vice-Chancellor and Senior Leadership of the University of Vienna
We, the students and staff of University of Vienna, call on the university to transition all of its catering outlets to fully plant-based menus. The food served on our campus is one of the largest sources of University of Vienna's carbon footprint. A plant-based transition is one of the fastest and most impactful climate actions the university can take. We ask for a clear, public timeline, meaningful collaboration with caterers, and student and staff wellbeing kept at the heart of the change.
